Dr. Justin Harkey DVM

Dr. Justin Harkey became the owner of the Calhoun County Animal Hospital in July of 2016. Raised in Port Lavaca, he is a 1994 graduate of Calhoun High School. Dr. Harkey has 12 years of small and large animal experience from the Animal Medical Clinic in Kingsville, Texas. He and his wife, Robin, who also grew up in Calhoun County, have two children: Morgan and Levi. In his leisure time, Dr. Harkey enjoys hunting, fishing, cooking, and gardening.

Education

Dr. Harkey received his BS in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 1998. He then pursued a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2004.

Dr. Stephen F. Wilson DVM
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Wilson worked in San Antonio for 3 years, then built and opened the Calhoun County Animal Hospital in 1982. He has been married to Brenda for 41 years and his youngest son will be graduating college this year. A Labrador named Lucy and 2 housecats named Evvie and Sophie round out his family. In his spare time, Dr Wilson enjoys hunting, fishing, and birdwatching.

Education

Dr. Wilson attended Texas A&M University, where he received bachelor’s degrees in Biomedical Science and in Veterinary Science. He received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M in 1979.

Glenda Blinka
Office Manager

Glenda has been in the veterinary field for 30 years and started working for Calhoun County Animal Hospital in 1988. She has been married to Edward for 33 years; has 2 children and 2 granddaughters. In her spare time she enjoys her family, fishing, going to arts and craft shows, cooking, and spending time at the beach.

Leann Pierson
Veterinary Assistant

Leann has worked at the Calhoun County Animal Hospital since 1998. She is a key puppy/kitty cuddler and technician. Her at-home crew consists of four dogs, three horses, a donkey and Rupert the Cat. When not working, she enjoys horseback riding and barrel racing.

Stacey Rangel
Veterinary Assistant

Stacey Rangel has been a part Calhoun County Animal Hospital for 14 years. She has been married to Ernest Rangel for 4 years. She had a son named Nikolai in 2013. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, arts and crafts, reading and playing with her yellow lab Scott and Labradoodle Skye.

Sharon Venglar
Veterinary Assistant

Sharon came to our clinic in 2012. She workes here part-time when she is not busy with classes. She married Jonathan Venglar in 2013. In her sparse free time she likes to fish and is learning how to play bass guitar. Her house is filled by a Great Dane, Bloodhound and a rambunctious kitty.

Casey Kalisek
Assistant

Casey joined our team in 2012. She came with a lot to offer; a big heart that loves all animals. She married Dennis Kalisek in June 2013. They recently had a little girl named Maddison in March of 2014. Casey enjoys spending her free time with Dennis and Maddison, going to arts and crafts shows, and playing with her three dogs.

Talynn Kelly
Assistant

Talynn has been an outstanding team member since starting here in 2012. With having 2 dogs and 3 cats at home, she uses that love for animals to do a great job of taking care of the animals while they stay with us. She enjoys reading and arts and crafts, doing nail art; which she is very talented at.
